FacilityImaging & Characterisation Hub

UC’s Imaging & Characterisation Hub brings together world class microscopy, spectroscopy, and analytical instrumentation that enable researchers to see, measure, and understand materials from the nanoscale to the macroscale. These facilities support discovery across engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, and emerging materials research. The Hub includes advanced microscopy, NMR, mass spectrometry, and X-ray analysis suites, supported by expert technical staff who work alongside researchers to design and deliver tailored analytical solutions. Rather than focusing on high-throughput routine testing, the Hub specialises in bespoke research characterisation and investigation services where complex research questions require deeper analysis, specialised methodologies, and expert interpretation. This enables researchers and external partners to tackle challenging scientific and engineering problems, develop new materials and technologies, and gain insights that are not achievable through standard commercial testing services.
