RESEARCH INTERESTS

Joya’s research interests span sustainable consumption and production, ethical and healthy consumption, behaviour change, and social and institutional transformation for sustainability. She focuses on sustainable marketing, marketing for good, circular economy behaviours, waste reduction, sociopolitical activism, and responsible consumption, generating insights relevant to policy, regulation, and organisational strategy.

 

Her work also examines sustainable and healthy eating, including meat reduction, alternative proteins, future foods, and food waste reduction, alongside broader themes of environmental behaviour change, systems‑level social change, and education for sustainable development. She is additionally interested in circular economy innovation, including plastics circularity, organic waste valorisation, and biocontrol and biotechnology solutions that support sustainable production systems and sector‑wide transitions.
