University of Canterbury,
New Zealand.

Description

The University of Canterbury has a rich and longstanding history of field station use, supporting world-class research across environmental science, ecology, geology, engineering, and more. UC’s field stations provide access to diverse natural environments—from alpine ecosystems and braided rivers to coastal zones and forested catchments—enabling researchers and students to conduct in situ investigations, long-term monitoring, and applied fieldwork. These facilities are equipped to support a wide range of activities, including ecological sampling, hydrological instrumentation, geotechnical testing, and environmental modelling. They play a vital role in postgraduate training, research collaboration, and community engagement, and are increasingly integrated into interdisciplinary research addressing climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable land use. UC’s field stations are part of a broader network of research infrastructure that enhances external partnerships and supports impactful, place-based science. Field station locations are at: - Cass - Kaikoura - Mt John - Westport.
